NJ cosplay activities

This weekend there were two events: a fundraiser at St. Barnabas Hospice which brought in over $5,000 for the hospital; then the Flemington car show.

The car shows are the 2nd & 4th Saturday nights of June, July & Aug. People are welcome to dress up in family friendly costumes and walk around Main Street to get photos taken.

Coming up on Friday night June 29th is a Meadowlands Zombie Walk at 10pm.

July 25th is Batman night at the Somerset Patriots ball game. Aug 11th is their Spider-Man night.

Oct 6-7th is SUPERHERO WEEKEND hosted by Comic Fusion in Flemington, NJ to raise money for SAFE in Hunterdon domestic violence organization.

Need a costume? Check out my etsy store. I have different sales each week. This week is Jesse Quick!

New Costumes at Etsy: X-MEN & JSA

This weekend two brand new costumes have been added to my Etsy shop.

They've only been worn to model for pictures for the listings. Full details about sizes and measurements are in the listings. No I am not taking custom commissions unless I already have a pattern in the size you need.

LIBERTY BELLE "Libby" version

JESSE QUICK was added a week ago but she's so obscure I'm afraid people aren't aware to even search for cosplay of her. Jesse is the daughter of Liberty Belle and she in fact has recently become the new Liberty Belle.

KITTY PRYDE or any "First Class" Style X-Men Character, modeled here by Ashley (@smash_is_nerdy).

Don't forget there are costumes on Etsy

I keep making new costumes and I'm selling off some of the ones from my own collection. Plus there are different hero themed tote bags and carved decorator pumpkins available:

2012 Cosplay Roll Call for Comic Fusion

I began the brainstorming last week about all of Comic Fusion's plans that would be enhanced by costumed guests. Please take a few moments to read through the calendar of events and let me know if you can help.

Ms. Marvel 2012

I just posted the step-by-step of my process for creating a commissioned Ms. Marvel costume.

It gave me some trouble once in a while but I'm really happy with how it came out.

Rogue redux - revisiting different versions of cosplay

I've been going through some old pictures lately and it reminded me of my first days costuming where I didn't make my own costume. My first superhero costume was something I commissioned from someone else and there were things about it that I didn't like, most notably the colors. The yellow was a pale pastel yellow and the green wasn't emerald but more like teal. What pissed me off most was that I had this ordered for a specific event and gave the seamstress the "must have by" date. I didn't arrive at my house until after I had to leave for my event. I am not ashamed that I did not pay for all of the shipping since she couldn't get it to me on time. And when I did get it, it needed alterations.

That bad experience is what lead me to bite the bullet and learn to sew spandex. I'm not great but I do all right and people enjoy the suits I've made.

Listed more stuff on etsy

It's been a difficult decision but I'm slowly letting go of my costume wardrobe. I have several listed etsy now.
